Dr. Nav Kumar Mahato

Dr. Nav Kumar Mahato has joined Adamas University as Assistant Professor in its Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science. An M. Phil. and a Ph.D. holder in Applied Mathematics from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, Dr. Mahato’s areas of interest encompass Hydrodynamics, Analytical/Numerical Solute Transport Modeling. With more than 07 years of progressive teaching experience of working with reputable Engineering colleges of West Bengal and Odisha, he also had the honor of publishing several significant articles on the subject in various international journals and conferences. With his impeccable teaching style with a blend of technology and present learning needs, he is sure to make a difference to the University.


Dr. Moumita Mukherjee

Subject : Physics

Designation: Assistant Professor (Associate Dean & Academic Coordinator, School of Science)

Dr. Moumita Mukherjeeis alumni of Presidency College and Calcutta University. Dr. Mukherjee received M.Sc. (Physics) degree with specialization in Electronics and Communication, M.Tech. Degree in Biomedical Engineering and Ph.D. (Tech.) degree in Radio Physics and Electronics (2009), University of Calcutta, India. She worked as DRDO-“Senior Research Fellowship” and in continuation to that Post Doctoral “Research Associate – I” under DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. She was Visiting Scientist, INEX, Newcastle University, UK (2009-2011). She obtained Postdoc position from Technical University, Darmstadt, Germany (2010). Dr. Mukherjee is Honorary Biomedical Engineer and technical ambassador of HUMAI –USA.Dr. Mukherjee is Visiting / Adjunct Professor and member of Board of Studies of the Joint Academic program on Biomedical Instrumentation conducted by Calcutta University and the West Bengal University of Health Sciences. 

Dr. Mukherjee is former Sr. Scientist -DRDO Centre of Excellence under Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India (2011 - 2015).  Dr. Mukherjee has joined Adamas University in 2015 and working as Associate Dean and Academic coordinator of School of Science. Dr. Mukherjee has guided more than 20 Master’s thesis under Calcutta University, West Bengal University of Health Sciences and West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) and supervising three Ph.D. theses under WBUT and Adamas University.

Her research interest is focused on THz-electronics,Semiconductor devices based on wide-band-gap semiconductors, Photo-sensors, nano-biosensors and Medical Electronics & Instruments. She has published more than 150 peer-reviewed research papers on THz-Electronics, Semiconductor devices, Biomedical Electronics and photonics in several reputed International refereed journals and IEEE/SPIE/ELSEVIER/SPRINGER–Proceedingswith citation globally. She is reviewer of a number of international peer reviewed journals and editorial board member of international journals. She is the author of a number of international book-chapters, and worked as a Volume Editor and author of three ISBN numbered books published from UK and India.  She has delivered a number of invited talks and presented several research articles in IEEE International Conferences and actedin various capacities such as “Technical Session Chair”, “Organizer, “Organizing Secretary” and “Convenor”in IEEE& DST International Conferences in India and abroad.

Dr. Mukherjee has received National Merit Scholarship award from Govt. of India and was enlisted in ‘Marques Who’s Who in Science and Engineering’ and ‘Marques Who’s Who in the World’. She has received “IEEE best paper award” two times in 2009 and 2010, prestigious Best Scientist Award, Bharat Gaurav Award in 2015, Best paper award in Science and Technology Congress, India in 2012. 

Dr. Mukherjee is the Member of IEEE (USA), IEEE-ED society (USA) and life member of Indian Science Congress.


Dr Palashpriya Das

Subject : Biotechnology

Dr. Palashpriya Das, alumnus of IIT Kharagpur; holds Bachelor of Science (Microbiology) from University of Calcutta. In pursuit of intellectual fulfillment she pursued double Masters -Master of Science (Microbiology) from University of Calcutta and M.Tech. in Biotechnology from Jadavpur University. She was awarded with Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT-KGP) in 2009 in the domain of Applied Microbiology.


Prof. Sanjib Ghosh

Designation: Director, Research and  Development  and  Dean, School of Science and School of Biotechnology, ADAMAS University.

Dr Rajib Sengupta

Subject : Biochemistry

Dr. Rajib Sengupta has nine years of teaching & 16 years of research experience including eight years of post doctorate research experience. He has published 20 International papers and presented scientific papers in 15 international and national Conferences/Seminar/Workshops. He has supervised many post-graduate and doctoral student. He persuaded his postdoctoral research at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (Pittsburgh, PA) and the Karolinska Institute (Stockholm, Sweden). His research is focused on the study of thioredoxin and glutaredoxin mediated redox regulations of Cancer and Parkinson's Diseases.


Dr. Moumita Gangopadhyay

Subject : Botany

Designation: Assistant Professor

Dr. Moumita Gangopadhyay, has successful track record comprising experience and commitment in research, teaching and industry in basic and applied plant science. After completing her graduation in Botany Honors from Serampore College of the University of Calcutta, Dr. Gangopadhyay did her M.Sc in Agriculture (Genetics and Plant Breeding) from the University of Calcutta and M. Tech in Biotechnology (specialization in Plant Molecular Biotechnology) from Jadavpur University. She successfully completed PhD (through NET) in medicinal plant biotechnology, Department of Botany from Bose Institute, Kolkata, India in 2009. She has been awarded prestigious DAAD (Germany) and Endeavour (Australia) fellowships.  Apart from 4 years post doctoral research experience (India and abroad) Dr. Gangopadhyay has also experience in teaching, project supervision at University level and industrial R & D (plant biotechnology) as staff scientist. She has published 25 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals (cumulative impact factor: 51.469; over 400 citations). Her research goal is to design of plant systems for sustainable production of value added commercial products and her career goal is to share her expertise for developing skilled manpower to serve for the nation.


Dr. Madhubrata Choudhury

• At present retired from Presidency University as Associate Professor & Head, Department of Life Science on 31.03.2016 .
• Joined West Bengal Education Service on 26.06.1985 as Lecturer in Botany and served Darjeeling Govt College (1985-90) , Jhargram Raj College (1990-95 ) and erstwhile Presidency College (1995 – till last date )which has been assigned the status of Presidency University in 2012 . Took the charges of Head of the Deptt. Of Botany / Life Science since March 2013 . Also acted as Convenor in different administrative bodies like Admission Committee , Disciplinary committee , Students Election Committee to name a few .
• Teaching areas include Cell Biology , Molecular Genetics and some classical aspects of Botany in undergraduate and post-graduate standard . Gained teaching experience of 26 years for post-graduate and 31 years for undergraduate standard .
• Topic of PhD research was ultrastructural ,cytological and molecular aspects of plant nucleolus . Awarded PhD (Sc) in 1983 from Calcutta University . Area of research includes cytological and molecular charecterisation of economically important plants , Genetic Toxicology and Studies on different aspects of plant nucleolus .
• Acted as Principal Investigator in a Minor project of UGC on orchid micropropagation from 2005-07 and in a Major project of UGC on cytological , phytochemical aspects , micropropagation and molecular characterization of Indian species of Ornithogalum .
• Acted as Supervisor in a PhD program under Calcutta University since 2011 . The project fellow has submitted her thesis on July 2016 . Published a number papers in International and Indian Journals .
• Worked as a guest scientist under a collaboration program at German Cancer Research Center ,Heidelberg , Germany in 1990 .The work includes the ultrastructural and immunocytological studies on the aspect of prophase chromosome orientation in cultured animal cells .


Dr. Rudra Prasad Saha

Subject : Biotechnology

Designation: Assistant Professor

A distinguished scholar, with 14+ years of experience in teaching and research, Dr. Rudra Prasad Saha has joined Adamas University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology. Dr. Saha completed his comprehensive post-doctoral research on host-virus relationships at the University of Texas at Austin, USA and San Diego State University, USA after earning his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Bose Institute (Jadavpur University), Kolkata. Dr. Saha has published several research papers in high impact international journals and presented his work in a number of national and international conferences around the world. Dr. Saha's current research interests include but not limited to protein-protein and protein-nucleic acid interactions, metal homeostasis in bacteria and metallo-regulation of transcription, bacteriophage-host interactions and development of a phage-based gene therapy system. Through his outstanding academic, leadership and interpersonal skills combined with his inimitable teaching style, Dr. Saha looks forward to encourage a competitive spirit among Adamas University students which will foster a positive and healthy campus atmosphere along with equipping students with the right skills to meet future challenges. Dr. Abinit Saha

Subject : Biotechnology

Designation: Assistant Professor, School of Sciences

Dr. Abinit Saha completed his Bachelor degree from Vivekananda College, Thakurpukur with Zoology (Hons.). He secured 2nd rank in B.Sc Zoology (Hons.)  from University of Calcutta. He completed his Master degree in Zoology with specialization in Endocrinology from University of Calcutta. He obtained “Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)” from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), India in 2008. In the same year, he joined to Bose Institute, India, one of the best premier research institutes for his doctoral program. He started his Ph.D. work in 2008 at the Department of Biochemistry, Bose Institute and was awarded Ph.D. degree in 2016 from University of Calcutta in Biotechnology. After getting his Ph.D. degree Dr. Saha joined Adamas University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology in 2016.

His research interests span over several topics in Biochemistry and Biotechnology e.g., transcription biology; Prokaryotic Gene Regulation; Protein-nucleic acid interactions; cyclic AMP signalling in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes and Macromolecular crystallography.
He has published his doctoral work in reputed international journals and also presented his work in various national and international conferences. He has also done some collaborative research work with other eminent faculty members from Bose Institute.

Dr. Saha also worked as Project Associate from July 1, 2013 to February 28, 2014 to assist in writing the book entitled “The History of Science in India, Volume VIII, Bio-Chemistry, Bio-Physics and Molecular Biology” under the guidance of Prof. N.C. Mondal and Prof. Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, sponsored by the National Academy of Science, India, Allahabad, Govt. of India.

Dr. Saha received K.S .RAO Memorial Award and Teachers’ Council Award from Vivekanada College, Thakurpukur for securing highest marks in B. Sc. (Zoology Hons).


Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh

Subject : Biotechnology

Designation: Assistant Professor

Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh graduated in Zoology (Honours) from Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, Jharkhand. He attained the best Student award and Kaushailya Devi’s Memorial Award for delivering excellent talk in B.Sc. Seminar Series, 2003. He completed Masters in Biotechnology from the University Of Burdwan, West Bengal and completed Ph.D. from CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata in the year 2014. He has several publications to his credit. Prior to joining Adamas University he was associated as a Post Doctoral Research Associate in a CSIR project in the University of Kalyani. Dr. Manoj has participated in many national and international seminars, conferences and symposia. His Poster entitled “Protective efficacy of Leishmanial glycolipids against visceral leishmaniasis” was selected for the Best Poster award in the 75th annual meeting of Society Of Biological Chemists (India) at J.N.U., New Delhi in 2006.
