Dr. Pradip Kumar Dutta

Dr. Pradip Kumar Dutta has post graduated from The University of Caltutta, done M.Phil from the same institute and also pursued Ph.D from Viswa Bharti University, Bolpur, West Bengal. His area of research includes Ionisation of atoms by positron impact (Atomic and Molecular Physics)


Dr. Moumita Dey

Dr. Moumita Dey, alumni of Calcutta University, completed her graduation from Bidhan Nagar Govt. College, Kolkata and received her Master’s degree in Pure Physics from University of Calcutta with specialization in Condensed Matter Physics in 2008. In the same year she joined Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP), one of the premier research institutes in India to pursue Ph.D. After successful completion of one year Post-M.ScAssociateship course at SINP, she started her PhD work in 2009 at the Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics Division of SINP and was awarded PhD degree in 2015. Immediately after getting the Ph.D. degree she joined Adamas University as an Assistant Professor of Physics.

Dr. Dey is presently working as the Dept.-In-Charge of Physics Department and Exam Coordinator for the SOS, AU. She is also a member of the Faculty council of the SOS.

Her research interests mainly focus on spin dependent transport in low-dimensional quantum systems. Her research interests span over several topics in theoretical nano-science e.g., Quantum transport in molecular bridge systems, Spin transport in magnetic systems, Multi-terminal conductance formulation, Spin Hall Effect, Quantum Hall effect, Thermoelectric study in molecular wires, NEGF technique: Keldysh formalism, effect of electron-phonon interactions on quantum transport etc. She has published several papers and review articles in reputed international journals and also presented her work in various national and international conferences. She has also done collaborative research work with eminent faculty members from other institute and universities like, Indian Statistical Institute, Visva-Bharati University, Kalyani University etc. apart from SINP.


Dr. Swarup Kumar Neogi

Designation: Assistant Professor

After completing his graduation from Serampore College of the University of Calcutta, Dr. Neogi did his M.Sc in Physics from the University of Calcutta in 2007. In the same year he joined as a Junior Research Fellow in the department of physics of the University of Calcutta for pursuing his Ph.D degree. He has awarded Ph.D degree in 2014. After submission of Ph.D thesis he joined in Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science as a Post-doctoral research fellow (2013-2016) in the department of Material Science. He joined in the department of Physics of Adamas University as an Assistant Professor from June 2016. During his Ph.D work, he did synthesis and characterization of transition metal doped ZnO, commonly known to us “Dilute Magnetic Semiconductors” and in his post-doctoral research he involved in the field of Half Metallic Magnetism. These materials find application in spintronics and related fields. Dr. Neogi has research interest in the interdisciplinary domain of solid state physics and material science. His research work has been published in various peer-reviewed international journals.  


Dr. Anwesa Sarkar

Designation: Assistant Professor

Dr. Anwesa Sarkar has graduated from Barasat Govt. College and completed her master degree from Rajabazar Science College, University of Calcutta. She has done her research work on physics from Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics and awarded Doctorate degree on May, 2016. Her research interests manly comprises of the nonlinear dyanamics in plasma especially focussing on the spatio-temporal evolution of waves, wave breaking, solitary wave propagation, relativistic and magnetized plasma etc.


Dr. Moumita Mukherjee

Designation: Assistant Professor (Associate Dean & Academic Coordinator, School of Science)

Dr. Moumita Mukherjeeis alumni of Presidency College and Calcutta University. Dr. Mukherjee received M.Sc. (Physics) degree with specialization in Electronics and Communication, M.Tech. Degree in Biomedical Engineering and Ph.D. (Tech.) degree in Radio Physics and Electronics (2009), University of Calcutta, India. She worked as DRDO-“Senior Research Fellowship” and in continuation to that Post Doctoral “Research Associate – I” under DRDO, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. She was Visiting Scientist, INEX, Newcastle University, UK (2009-2011). She obtained Postdoc position from Technical University, Darmstadt, Germany (2010). Dr. Mukherjee is Honorary Biomedical Engineer and technical ambassador of HUMAI –USA.Dr. Mukherjee is Visiting / Adjunct Professor and member of Board of Studies of the Joint Academic program on Biomedical Instrumentation conducted by Calcutta University and the West Bengal University of Health Sciences. 

Dr. Mukherjee is former Sr. Scientist -DRDO Centre of Excellence under Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India (2011 - 2015).  Dr. Mukherjee has joined Adamas University in 2015 and working as Associate Dean and Academic coordinator of School of Science. Dr. Mukherjee has guided more than 20 Master’s thesis under Calcutta University, West Bengal University of Health Sciences and West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) and supervising three Ph.D. theses under WBUT and Adamas University.

Her research interest is focused on THz-electronics,Semiconductor devices based on wide-band-gap semiconductors, Photo-sensors, nano-biosensors and Medical Electronics & Instruments. She has published more than 150 peer-reviewed research papers on THz-Electronics, Semiconductor devices, Biomedical Electronics and photonics in several reputed International refereed journals and IEEE/SPIE/ELSEVIER/SPRINGER–Proceedingswith citation globally. She is reviewer of a number of international peer reviewed journals and editorial board member of international journals. She is the author of a number of international book-chapters, and worked as a Volume Editor and author of three ISBN numbered books published from UK and India.  She has delivered a number of invited talks and presented several research articles in IEEE International Conferences and actedin various capacities such as “Technical Session Chair”, “Organizer, “Organizing Secretary” and “Convenor”in IEEE& DST International Conferences in India and abroad.

Dr. Mukherjee has received National Merit Scholarship award from Govt. of India and was enlisted in ‘Marques Who’s Who in Science and Engineering’ and ‘Marques Who’s Who in the World’. She has received “IEEE best paper award” two times in 2009 and 2010, prestigious Best Scientist Award, Bharat Gaurav Award in 2015, Best paper award in Science and Technology Congress, India in 2012. 

Dr. Mukherjee is the Member of IEEE (USA), IEEE-ED society (USA) and life member of Indian Science Congress.


Ms. Diptasikha Das

Designation: Assistant Professor

Ms. Diptasikha Das has graduated from Scottish Church College (University of Calcutta) in 2008, post-graduated from Presidency College (University of Calcutta) in 2010 and pursuing her Ph.D. from Rajabajar Science College (University of Calcutta) . She joined Adamas University in the year 2017.

Her research work deals with the synthesis and characterization of p-type thermoelectric material, viz., semiconducting and metallic Sb2Te3 and Sb2Te3-xSex material. She also studied the effect of defect concentration, Selenium concentration, temperature, different scattering mechanism and carrier concentration on structural parameters, resistivity, thermopower of Sb-Te-Se based materials. In addition, she also investigated the thermoelectric property of n-type Bi-Sb alloy and p-type (Bi1-xSbx)2Te3 alloys.


Dr. Papiya Dhara

Designation: Assistant Professor

Dr. Papiya Dhara did her M.Sc (Applied Physics) from Indian Institute of Technology(ISM) Dhanbad in June, 2011. She joined as Junior Research Fellow in the Department of Applied Physics of IIT(ISM) Dhanbad in February, 2012 and has been awarded her Ph.D in March, 2017. During her Ph.D, she had done 1 year research exchange program in Department of Electronics and telecommunication of Politecnico di Torino-Italy. She joined in the Department of Physics of Adamas University as an Assistant Professor from June 2017.


Mr Sabuj Ghosh

Subject : Physics

Designation: Assistant Professor 

Sabuj Ghosh has graduated from Barasat Government College under University of Calcutta before doing his post-graduation from SikshaBhavana, Visva-Bharati University. There after he performed his research work at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics for a period of fiveyears.

Area of Research: His area of research is Nonlinear Dynamics in Glow discharge plasma. He has explored various nonlinear phenomena in discharge plasma in cylindrical and toroidal symmetry. He started visualdiagnostics through high frame per second photography in SINP tokamak. He also developed several new mathematical tools to analyse experimental time series data.  He has expertise in segregating floating potential oscillations depending on degree of nonlinearity using various machine learning techniques.

Future Research Planning:  His currenttopic of research includes experimental plasma physics as well as geomagnetism.  In future he plans to work on prediction system for geomagnetic storms.
