Dr. Rupam Sen

Subject : Chemistry

Designation: Assistant Professor

An eminent research scholar, with 10 years of experience in  research, Dr. Rupam Sen has joined Adamas University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry. Aftersuccessfully finishing his Ph.D. from Jadavpur University, Kolkata on MOF-based multifunctionalmaterials synthesis, he received the FCT-international postdoctoral fellowship, where he worked on the same field at Aveiro University, after finishing this he was awarded the prestigious fellowship JSPS (Japan Society for the promotion of Science), Japan and work there on the development of photo/thermo responsive materials which can be used as the potential actuator at molecular level. During his Ph. D. and post-doctoral research he published a lot of research articlesin journal of international repute. He also earned the prestigious Dr. D. S. Kothari post-doctoral fellowship, National Scholarship and Silver medal as meritorious student during his early studies. He is still actively engaged in research work and more will be executed in the Adamas University.  He is now developing hybrid systems for site specific MOF-based heterogeneous catalysis in Adamas University. He also has expertise reviewinginternational journals. Besides his outstanding academic and research, he is very amiable person which make him easy approachable forthe students. After all, Dr. Sen looks forward to encourage the Adamas University students not for only studying but also for social and cultural development, which will create a constructive and healthy atmosphere everywhere. Dr. Arpan Manna

Designation: Assistant Professor

Dr. Arpan Manna had graduated with Hon’s in Chemistry from Scottish Church College, Kolkata. He had completed his Post Graduation in Chemistry with specialisation in Physical Chemistry from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. After qualifying prestigious CSIR-National Eligibility Test, he had moved to CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune for carrying out doctoral research studies in the field of Physico-organic Chemistry and Green Chemistry under the supervision of Dr. Anil Kumar, J C Bose National Fellow and FNA. Part of his doctoral research especially Fluorescence and LASER spectroscopic studies had been carried out in Radiation and Photochemistry Division, BARC, Mumbai under the guidance of Prof. Haridas Pal, Outstanding Scientist and FNASc. Following the submission of PhD thesis, he had worked as a senior project assistant in a DST sponsored project on Green Chemistry Following the award of PhD degree in Chemistry in 2015, he had moved to Republic of Korea to carry out Post-Doctoral Research studies in field of Photochemistry and LASER Spectroscopy under the guidance of Prof. Manho Lim in Pusan National University, Busan.

His research interest focused on the following subjects viz. Physico-organic Chemistry; Solution Chemistry; Water–promoted organic reactions; Ionic Liquids synthesis and application in reactions; Ultrafast –fluorescence spectroscopic studies of fast reactions; Transient absorption studies of bio-physical reactions. He has published 10 research papers in international peer reviewed journals till date.

Dr Arpan Manna has been awarded post-doctoral fellowship of National Research Foundation of Korea to work as a post doctoral research scholar in Pusan National University, Busan, Republic of Korea from May,2015. He has won best poster presentation award at Diamond Jubilee Symposium on Recent Trends in Chemistry event organized by Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur from 21-22 October, 2011. He had also won best poster presentation award at “National Science Day” celebration event organized by National Chemical Laboratory, Pune from 27-28 February 2012. Dr. Manna has qualified National Eligibility Test (JRF-NET) conducted jointly by University Grants Commission and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, India in Chemical Sciences, 2008. He has also qualified Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Science, 2009.

 

Dr Bithika Sarkar

Designation: Assistant Professor

Dr Bithika Sarkar is working as a guest faculty in the Department of Chemistry of Adamas University from March, 2017. Dr. Bithika has graduated from Chakdaha College, University of Kalyani in 2009. She had post graduated from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai in 2011 and obtained her Ph.D in Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee in 2017. She had  qualified both GATE (2011) and UGC-NET in Chemical Sciences (2012). Her research interest is in the areas of Coordination complexes, Catalysis. She had published at least 5 research works in reputed international journals.

 

Dr. Dipsikha Bhattacharya

Designation: Assistant Professor

Dr. Dipsikha Bhattacharya had Joined Adamas University in June,2017 as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry under School of Science. She had graduated with Honours in Chemistry in 2004 from Jadavpur University and also done her post graduation in inorganic chemistry in 2006 from the same. After qualifying prestigious CSIR-NET and GATE examination in the year 2007, she had joined Department of Chemistry, IIT Kharagpur to pursue her doctoral research work in the field of nanomaterials chemistry under the joint supervision of senior professor Panchanan Pramanik and Tapas Kumar Maiti, Department of Biotechnology, IIT Kharagpur.After getting awarded from IIT Kharagpur in 2012, she moved to CSIR-Indian Indian Toxicology Research, Lucknow to pursue her postdoctoral studies under Dr K.C. Gupta, previous director of that institute. After her postdoctoral work which has completed in 2015, she had joined CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute in Dr Goutam De’s lab, where she had worked as a CSIR-Senior Research Associate before joining Adamas University on 14th June 2017. Her research interest focused on the following subjects viz. functionalized nanomaterials; drug delivery; bioimaging; catalysis; optoelectronics and wound healing applications. She has published 9 research papers in international peer reviewed journals till date

During her PhD, she was selected sole participant from department of chemistry, IIT Kharagpur in 2011 in Participant for 2011 Women in Technology and Science Meet GE, Bangalore at GE’s John F Welch Technology Center (JFWTC).Dr Dipsikha has been awarded DST Nano Mission PDF Fellowship to work as a post doctoral research scholar in CSIR-IITR Lucknow where she worked from 2013 to 2015. She was also selected as CSIR-SRA in last November. Dr. Bhattacharya has qualified National Eligibility Test(JRF-NET) conducted jointly by University Grants Commission and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, India in Chemical Sciences, 2007. Shealso ranked 28 inGraduate Aptitude Test in Engineering(GATE) in 2007.

 

Dr. Namrata Ray

Subject : Chemistry

Designation: Assistant Professor

Dr. Namrata Ray has joined as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry under the School of Science in June 2017. She graduated with honours in Chemistry from Bethune College in 2006. She did her Master’s from Presidency College with specialization in Organic Chemistry (affiliated to University of Calcutta) and passed in 2008. She had qualified NET exam and received CSIR-JRF fellowship in 2008. She had been selected for a work experience and training program under UKIERI and worked as a process chemist at GlaxoSmithKline in Dartford, UK (2008-2009). She had joined Ph.D. under Prof.Amitabha Sarkar at the Department of Organic Chemistry at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science in September 2009 and received her degree in April, 2015. She was a visiting scholar at ENSCP, France during her Ph.D. After submitting her PhD thesis, she had written her own project and received a two-year DBT-research associateship and she had joined CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology in January 2015. She had published 5 research papers in international peer reviewed journals till date and her area of interest in research is in organometallic chemistry at the interface of chemistry and biology.

 

Dr. Prabuddha Bhattacharya

Designation: Assistant Professor

Dr. Prabuddha Bhattacharya had Joined Adamas University in June,2017 as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry under School of Science. Dr. Bhattacharya had graduated with Chemistry Honors from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata (under Calcutta University) and was the departmental gold medalist from St. Xavier’s College for securing the highest marks in B.Sc Chem. Hons. (2005-2008). He then completed his post graduation in 2010, from Calcutta University (M.Sc in Chemistry) with specialization in Organic Chemistry. He worked under the guidance of Prof. ChhandaMukhopadhyay (Calcutta University) during his M.Sc project on the field of Multi Component Reactions (MCR). After qualifying CSIR-NET (JRF)(Dec 2009) (in Chemical Science) and GATE (Feb 2010) (in Chemistry), he earned his Ph.Din 2016, working under the guidance of Prof. Amit Basakat IIT Kharagpur, on the interface of organic synthesis and bio-organic chemistry. He worked on various facets of organic chemistry including synthetic methodology based on allene chemistry, multistep organic synthesis of orthocondensedpolynuclear heterocycles followed by their DNA-binding studies and also on asymmetric synthesis. Following the submission of his thesis, he had worked as a Senior Project Assistant under Prof. Amit Basak’s guidance, on the synthesis and DNA-binding studies of chromans, sponsored by DST (August 2016 to June 2017).He also worked a guest lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at SurendranathCollge, Kolkata (under Calcutta University), (Nov 2016 to May 2017).His research interests include multistep organic synthesis of bioactive molecules; design, synthesis and biochemical studies of DNA-binding molecules; organometallic chemistry; one-pot MCR.

 

Dr. Kisholoy Bhattacharya

Designation: Assistant Professor

Dr. Kisholoy Bhattacharya has joined as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry under School of Science.Dr.Kisholoy had graduated from Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College, Rahara (Calcutta University), completed his Post-graduation from the University of Calcutta. He has carried out his  Ph. D thesis works in Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (Jadavpur University). He has total 10 years of research experience. His Ph. D. dissertation is based on studies of oxovanadium complexes with multiple metal centres. After completing the Ph. D., he was awarded with prestigious Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral fellowship and had started to work on homo and heterometallic complexes with Mannich base ligands. He has published at least  15 publications in peer reviewed international  journals. His current research interest is on Lanthanide complexes with Schiff and Mannich base ligands.
