Dr. Gouranga Patra

Subject : Economics (Adjunct/Associate Faculty )

An effective teacher with 10+ years of proven track record of delivering quality instructions to college and university level learning individuals. Dr. Patra earned his Ph.D. in Marketing from Assam University in the year 2012 along with an MBA degree in Marketing from BPUT, Odisha in 2006. Formerly associated with C V Raman College of Engineering, Bhubaneswar. He has now assumed the position of Assistant Professor and Academic Coordinator in the School of Management at Adamas University, West Bengal. His areas of expertise include Marketing & Advertising Management, Product & Brand Management, Consumer Behavior, Retail Management, International Marketing and Entrepreneurship Development. He has also written a book ‘Advertising Effectiveness in Indian Context’ and has several journals on varied topics related to Marketing to his credit.

 

Dr. Debanjana Dey

Subject : Economics (Adjunct/Associate Faculty )

Debanjana Dey teaches Economics at Adamas University, Kolkata. She is a Ph.D. from Department of Economics, University of Calcutta. She researches on ecological sustainability and urban planning, with focus on peri-urban processes in the Global South and trying to reinvent herself as an interdisciplinary scholar, while retaining a bend of mind for economics. She has published with international houses such as Sage and Springer and read papers at influential conferences. She enjoys teaching both quantitative and qualitative aspects of economic life.   

 

Mr. Samyo Basu

Subject : Economics (Adjunct/Associate Faculty )

Mr. Samyo Basu, completing his M.Phil dissertation on Marxian political economy from Calcutta University, has recently joined Adamas University in 2016. His interests lie in the class analysis of the third world economies as compared to the non-conflictual teleological approach that modern development economics has towards them. To him, it is not just the economy but a confluence of culture, politics, economy and nature that shapes the trajectory of post-colonial (capitalist) development. Besides these, he teaches advanced microeconomics, macroeconomics and has a knack for literature on development economics and the Indian economy and its history. He graduated in economics from Scottish Church College, Kolkata, West Bengal and has done his post-graduations from the University of Calcutta.

 

Mr. Swapan Chakraborty

Subject : Economics (Adjunct/Associate Faculty )

Mr. Swapan Chakraborty has joined Adamas University in the Department of Economics from 25th November,2016. Mr.Swapan Chakraborty has graduated from Narendrapur Ramkrishna Mission Residential College under Calcutta University, Post graduated from the Department of Economics, Calcutta University. He did his M.Phil from the Department of Economics, Delhi School of Economics ( Delhi University) in 2010. Currently he is pursuing his Phd(Economics) from Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University. His area of interest is in Applied Econometrics, Macroeconomics and Political Economy.

 

Dr. Nivedita Mandal

Subject : Economics (Adjunct/Associate Faculty )

Dr. Nivedita Mandal teaches Economics at Adamas University, Kolkata since June 2015. She focuses on financial economics and has studied capital and derivative markets in an emerging economy like India. In her three years of teaching career, she has taught both management and economics students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She believes in class room innovation and pedagogical experimentation, while attempting to extend the reach of economics.  She has graduated in Economics from Lady Brabourne College, University of Calcutta, post graduated in Applied Economics from Department of Economics, University of Calcutta, and completed M.Phil. in Finance from IFHE, Hyderabad and Ph.D. in  Financial Economics from Mizoram University in 2015.

 

Probir Kumar Gupta

Subject : Management

Professor Probir Kumar Gupta is the Dean of the School of Management and the School of Commerce and Economics at Adamas University, Barasat since June 2016.

Prior to this assignment, he was the Dean of the Vinod Gupta School of Management, and the founder Head of the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, both at IIT Kharagpur. During his tenure at IIT he served as the Chairman of the Sub-committee for Higher Management Education in the Ministry of HRD, and had undertaken study tours to Haas School of Management, Berkeley, University of California, Los Angeles, University of Nebraska, Omaha and the University of Washington, School of Law.

His extensive corporate career includes such positions as the Secretary of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Managing Director of Webel Nicco, Executive Director of Nicco Park and Resorts, Vice President of FAL Industies, the Indo-Swedish Company which with Facit, Ericssons and Electrolux, of Sweden introduced manufacture of electronic typewriters, vacuum cleaners and other white goods, and telecom instruments into India.

He has also worked asof General Manager Samuel Osborne Steels in UK and Singapore, and in the Machinery Building Division of Metal Box India during his early working days.

He graduated from IIT Kharagpur in Mechanical Engineering, and was the first recipient of the B C ROY Gold MEDAL of the Institute.

 

Prof Pathik Mitra

Subject : Management

Prof Mitra Joined Coal India Ltd.as a Corporate Finance Executive and without any break retired from there in the post now designated as Chief  Manager (Finance) on 1stFebruary, 2008. He received Article ship from M/s. S.R. BATLIBOI & CO., Chartered Accountants, passed  Chartered Accountancy  in May’79 and continued with the Firm till July,1982 .Post qualification experience in M/s .S.R. BATLIBOI & CO, is more than 3years.

He joined as a professor at SCHOOL OF LAW, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Member of Board of Studies, SCHOOL OF  LAW for 4 years and also he worked in different firms. Presently Prof Mitra is working as a professor at the school of Management, Adamas University in the area of Finance and Accountancy.

 

Dr. Bijay Krishna Bhattacharya (Associate Professor)

Subject : Economics (Adjunct/Associate Faculty )

Dr. Bijay Krishna Bhattacharya started his career in Oriental Bank of Commerce. Worked in various positions and his last assignment was CHIEF MANAGER (Senor Faculty Member) of the Bank at its apex Staff Training College, NOIDA. Switched to Globsyn Business

School in 2008 as Associate Professor and then joined ICFAI University, Tripura. Now he is Associate Professor (Finance) in the School of Economics and Commerce of the University.

 

Dr. Rituparna Das

Subject : Economics (Adjunct/Associate Faculty )

Professor Dr. Rituparna Das's full time teaching experience is approximately 17 years. His qualifications include PhD, NET and SLET in Economics with first class MBA degree of IISW & BM (Calcutta University) as additional qualification. Previous administrative experiences include inter alia Director position of the Centre for Studies in Banking and Finance set up by the corpus of the Reserve Bank of India endowed to National Law University, Jodhpur. Research outputs cover more than three dozens of international publications including Elsevier, Oxford, Scopus indexed and Thomson Reuter Indexed. He received invitation for Fulbright-Nehru Academic Excellence Fellowship Programme for Faculty at Argosy University. The Institutions of his previous full time services are W.B. National University of Juridical Sciences Kolkata, National Institute of Bank Management Pune, National Law University Jodhpur and University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Dehradun. Places where visiting/guest/part time faculty position were offered to him include City University of Hong Kong, Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISW&BM) Kolkata and Goenka College of Commerce and Business Administration Kolkata. His is life member of, inter alia, Indian Statistical Institute, The Indian Econometric Society and Indian Economic Association. 

 

MS. SHABNAM PARVEEN

Subject : Management

Shabnam Parveen , an M.B.A in HR from Aligarh Muslim University. She has been teaching previously as Assistant Professor in Department of Business Administration(FMSR) in the same institution, that is , Aligarh Muslim University , Murshidabad. Presently she has assumed the position of Assistant Professor in School of Commerce and Management at Adamas University, Barasat, West Bengal. Her areas of expertise are General Management, Human Resource Management, Organizational Development and Industrial Relations.

 

Mr. Saikat Datta

Subject : Civil Engineering (CE) (Adjunct/Associate Faculty )

Mr. Saikat Datta received his B. E. in Civil Engineering from Jadavpur University in 2011 and M. E. in Civil Engineering (Specialization : Soil Mechanics & Foundation Engineering) from IIEST, Shibpur in 2014. He joined Adamas University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of CE in April, 2017. His subject interest for teaching is in Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering and Soil Stabilization & Ground Improvement Techniques. He published a conference paper in IGC-2014 (Datta, S., Bera, A.K. and Chattopadhyay, K.K (2014), Effect of size of reinforcement on bearing capacity of footing on reinforced sand using ABAQUS.
