A nip in the air greeted the gathering alongside the flowing Ganges and the host Ms. Marjana’s welcome in the evening of 3rd December, 2016 at Floatel, Kolkata where principals, teachers and professors of prominent schools and colleges of Kolkata and other dignitaries got together for the 2nd season of Adamas World Summit (AWS) .
Shri Surojit Biswas-President, RICE Group gave a graphic description of the concept and purpose of AWS and how in a short span of a year, since its inception, it has touched the lives of over 2500 academicians as well as students and academic institutions spread over 30 locations of West Bengal. Shri Biswas introduced the audience to the verticals of the education giant of the East called RICE and Adamas Group of Institutions and its continuous progress to building a university. The distinguished guests were also informed about the way each of these divisions is making a difference in the world of education. AWS is created to give a further impetus to the Group’s educational endeavors by providing a common platform to academicians at large, who can exchange views on education and allied topics. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Biswas took everyone through a few visual slides of the sprawling Adamas Knowledge City campus, an integrated education township in Barasat, first of its kind in eastern India. He then spoke about Adamas University, which is built on a five-pillar philosophy, is innovation & research intensive, bears a global outlook, is industry-enabled, believes in instilling corporate culture among students and is enabled with a smart & green campus catering to various faculties of studies. He also introduced the top management of Adamas University to the gathering, including the Advisor to Chancellor-Prof N.L. Mitra, Vice Chancellor-Prof Madhusudan Chakraborty, Advisor to Vice Chancellor-Dr. A.K. Majumdar, Director-Professional Studies-Shri Debasish Som and the Deans of all the Schools and nearly all of whom shared their thoughts with the audience.
Adamas University’s recent efforts to form an “Industry Advisory Council” with Shri C.N. Raghupathi (India Business Head-Infosys) as its Chairman and its objectives were also spoken about along with sharing some facts about “Academic Advisory Board” which is an amalgamation of national and international academician and eminent people. In addition, a few more vital and upcoming initiatives of the University were also shared with the audience by Shri Biswas such as ‘student & faculty exchange program’ in network with foreign universities. The rich legacy of RICE Education was also the talking point during the presentation along with letting the audience know how RICE Education, through its unique teaching and mentoring style, has been helping aspirants transform their vision into reality.
In addition, the audience was updated about other ventures of the Group spanning Adamas Career by Dr. Sourav Bhattacharya, RICE Education by Shri Rajiv Sen, Adamas Higher Secondary Model School by by the school Principal-Ms. Dipika Basu Das. The success stories with the exact data were also shared with the guests present. The presentation also took everyone through the initiatives being taken by SRF (Samit Ray Foundation) a not-for-profit unit of the Group and IOSQ (International Olympiad for Science Quest) which is being managed under the auspices of SRF.
The session concluded with a ‘lucky draw’ contest just like the previous season of AWS where 3 individuals from the audience won a trip to Singapore with their respective families who were given the tickets to their dream destination. The event was wrapped up by Ms. Marjana by thanking each one for their presence and participation.
