Sept 10th – 16th Sept is observed as the World Suicide Prevention Week. “Creating hope through action” is the triennial theme for the World Suicide Prevention Day from 2021 – 2023 and Adamas University is “taking action” with launching the “hopeful initiative”  ONE DAY AT A TIME, on 12th September, 2023, to address the pressing need of us being kind to our minds and feeling a sense of belonging!

Inspiring the students to understand themselves and their triggers compassionately; Empowering them with the knowledge that “you are not alone;” Building a sense of community and Instilling Gentle Strength, are few of the things this “hopeful initiative” aims to achieve.

Bengal’s Academic Powerhouses Unite: Kalyani Innovation Network Launches during E-YUVA’s conclave at Adamas*

Adamas University hosted the ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conclave 2023’ on 17th August 2023, Thursday. Organised by the E-YUVA Centre, Adamas University, supported by BIRAC, a Govt. of India Enterprise, the 2-day event aims to bridge the gap between innovation and academia within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The conclave was held at the university, bringing together stakeholders including innovators, startups, government enablers, and funding agencies under one academic roof. The second day of the conference is scheduled for Friday, August 18th.

Esteemed dignitaries, including Prof. (Dr.) Samit Ray, Chancellor, Adamas University; Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Das, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Training, Placement and Corporate Relations), Adamas University; Dr. Subhra Ranjan Chakrabarti, Director (Operations) BIRAC; Dr. Manish Diwan, Head SPED Division BIRAC; and D. Mitra, Joint Director, MSME, Govt. of India, graced the event.

Except for them, Dr. Chhaya Chowhan, Sr. Manager Incubation, BIRAC; Raveesh Malik, Asst. Manager (Biotech and Pharma), Invest India; Prof. Nahid Ali, Raja Ramanna Fellow, J.C. Bose Fellow, CSIR-IICB, joined the conclave too.

The ‘Innovation and Start-up Expo’ showcased innovative ventures, startups, and initiatives by academic institutions, NGOs, and artisans from West Bengal districts. Over 30 academic institutions and schools, along with renowned universities, research centres, and funding agencies, participated and fostered a conducive ecosystem for budding entrepreneurs.

The launch of the KIN (Kalyani Innovation Network), a collaborative initiative by seven higher education institutions, including Adamas University, IISER Kolkata, IIIT Kalyani, Kalyani University, MAKAUT, BCKV, AIIMS Kalyani to promote innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth of West Bengal, was the main highlight of the conclave.

Prof. Samit Ray, Chancellor, of Adamas University, said “the ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conclave 2023’ resonates with our commitment to bridge academia and entrepreneurship. Together, we sculpt a future where knowledge breeds ingenuity, and young minds lead us to prosperity. The launch of KIN ignites the flame of innovation, fostering West Bengal’s youth as pioneers of change.”

The Director (Operations), of BIRAC, Dr. Subhra Ranjan Chakrabarti stated ‘in this generation, it is essential not only to look for work opportunities but also to create work chances. Otherwise, we will face obstacles on the path of establishing new industries. Therefore, fostering  innovation is crucial for individuals to become industrious and inclined towards industries.’

Adamas University, School of Media and Communication signed an MoU with the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) on 17th July 2023.

Adamas University, School of Media and Communication signed an MoU with the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) on 17th July 2023. This MoU will foster cooperation in terms of academic collaboration, internship, field visits, and other knowledge-sharing activities. It will be beneficial for the students in terms of industry exposure. Prof. Akash Deep Muni, Associate Dean, School of Media and Communication, Adamas University welcomed the dignitaries and spoke about the benefits of signing this MoU. Prof. Shauvik Roy Chowdhury, Registrar, Adamas University and Mr. R. N. Mahapatra, Sr Executive Vice President, PRCI signed the MoU. Prof. Suranjan Das graced the occasion with his presence. The founder and chairman of PRCI Mr M.B. Jayram; Mr Chinmayi Pravin, President, of the Young Communicators Club; Dr. T. Vinaya Kumar, Secretary General, PRCI and pan India chapters of PRCI were present virtually. World Public Relations Day is observed on July 16 and this MoU seemed to be an additional cause to celebrate.

Steroviz Pixels Pvt.Ltd., a Kolkata-based med-tech start-up and Adamas University inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 10th July 2023.

Steroviz Pixels Pvt.Ltd., a Kolkata-based med-tech start-up and Adamas University inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 10th July 2023.

Adamas University and Steroviz will be involved in an industry-academia partnership, as a part of which they are planning to jointly establish a Centre of Excellence in the design and development involving modern manufacturing. The centre of excellence will be one of its kinds in the Eastern India which will cater to need to surgical planning models and other products as per industrial demand.

Professor Souvik Roy Chowdhury, Registrar, Adamas University and Mr. Shammodip Roy, CEO, Steroviz Pixels signed the MoU in presence of Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Suranjan Das.

Steroviz leadership will provide the expertise on the AI enabled surgical planning, design and development of patient-specific implant and other products, and nuances of modern manufacturing. The centre will provide an opportunity for the students of the University to work with cutting edge industrial problems in the med-tech domain. It will also provide a collaboration opportunity for the faculties and expected to increase the engagement with the industries.

Association of Microfinance Institutions – West Bengal (AMFI-WB) and Adamas University inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the presence of the Vice Chancellor of Adamas University

Association of Microfinance Institutions – West Bengal (AMFI-WB) and Adamas University inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the presence of the Vice Chancellor of Adamas University, Professor Suranjan Das. The signatories of the MOU were Prof. Shauvik Roy Chowdhury, Registrar, Adamas University; Anjan Dasgupta, MD, ASA Microfinance (India) and Secretary of AMFI-WB.

Adamas University will serve as the knowledge partner for AMFI-WB, providing professional and technical support. This collaboration aims to bridge the knowledge gap for young entrepreneurs throughout the state and promote holistic development in both farm and non-farm sectors. The partnership will also foster academia-industry linkage and facilitate the sharing of emerging technologies.

This MOU marks the beginning of a promising collaboration between AMFI-WB and Adamas University, paving the way for growth, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the microfinance sector.

The MOU was signed in the presence of Asit Mitra, CEO, AMFI-WB; Swati Singh from ASA Microfinance (India); Prof. Naveen Das, Pro Vice Chancellor (Training, Placement and Corporate Relations); Dipankar Bhattacharyay, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Adamas University, and Somnath Chatterjee, Senior Vice President of the Chancellor’s Office and Dean of School of Smart Agriculture, Prof. Sandip Bannerjee, who is the main driving factor behind this whole initiative.

The highly anticipated 3rd Khelo India University Games kicked off in Lucknow from May 23rd, 2023 at Babu Banarasi Das U.P. Badminton Academy.

The highly anticipated 3rd Khelo India University Games kicked off in Lucknow from May 23rd, 2023 at Babu Banarasi Das U.P. Badminton Academy. Adamas University had assembled the most extensive team ever from East India to compete in the Khelo India Games. With an impressive count of 93 members, including 77 talented students alongside dedicated trainers and managers, Adamas University was the 10th largest team in the nation!

With a phenomenal display of talent, the sports team brought home 9 medals. Among these shining gems are 3 glorious gold medals, 3 stunning silver medals, and 3 well-deserved bronze medals.Claiming the top spot in West Bengal and ranking 25th nationwide, the team’s performance was out of this world!

In the media roundtable, intellectual capital of the institution was introduced, that plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of thousands of students, empowering them to excel in their chosen fields and make meaningful contributions to society. 

During the event, Professor Samit Ray, the Chancellor of Adamas University, announced the appointment of Suranjan Das, former Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University, as the new Vice-Chancellor of Adamas University, effective from June 1, 2023. 

Adamas University has a diverse faculty hailing from 20 different states, with 14 members possessing international experience from various firms in foreign countries. The university’s commitment to innovation is evident through the publication of some patents and the establishment of 9 specialized research centres.

Not only these but also in the third year of participation in KHELO INDIA, Adamas University secured the 18th rank with 93 participants, highlighting their growing presence in the sports arena. In a bid to expand its global footprint, Adamas University plans to open international offices in the UK, US, Australia, and Dubai, offering students international internship opportunities. 

The Chancellor of Adamas University, Prof. Samit Ray said “These persons are asset to the University and they do not only elevate the institution but also serve the larger community, all within the nurturing confines of our campus. We firmly believe that these extraordinary personalities deserve recognition, as they embody the intellectual capital that Adamas possesses”.
