B.A. Political Science and International Relations
Introduction to the Course:
This is a unique and the only program in eastern India with an amalgamation of all the crucial aspects of Political Science and International Relations at the undergraduate level to foster robust professional as well as personal growth of students. The Department of Political Science has therefore, drawn up a curriculum in conjunction with the philosophy of the NEP that incorporates a broad spectrum of topics from Political thoughts and theories on the current socio-politico-economic concerns to comparative analyses of political systems and repercussions of International Relations around the globe. The program also lays additional emphasis on inculcating analytical writing skills to ensure the development of research capacity of the young learners in order to enable the budding civil service aspirants to crack the toughest of the tough challenges in competitive examinations.
PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO)
PEO 01: The graduated students have ample scope to compete for public service Commission examination and other competitive exams at national and state level
PEO 02: The students after graduation can choose professional careers in Multidisciplinary areas, be it academia, Media, NGOs-NPOs as well as research interns at Research think-tanks and reputed institutions of Law and Politics.
PEO 03: The internship component of the curriculum enables them to apply theory to practice and gain hands-on experience.
PEO 04: The students are prepared for entrepreneurship through the skill development Programmes, lifelong learning and the incubation centre at the University.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES:
PO 01: Demonstrate critical thinking, research and communication skills as applied to both public and private sectors.
PO 02: Managing diversity issues within and organizational framework keeping the ethics and values integrated.
PO 03: The program demonstrates integrative knowledge, skills, and ethics necessary for responsible administrative, management and leadership positions.
PO 04: The program seeks to realisea better understanding of polity and its use and implication on society at large.
PO 05: The program aims to inculcate Leadership Skills and create opinion makers as effective members of a society to bring socio-political change.
Eligibility: Minimum 50% aggregate in 10 +2 or equivalent from any recognized board.
