Program Introduction

The program B. Pharm is a four year undergraduate program and is the cornerstone of pharmacy education in India. The course helps students to become acquainted with the production and manufacturing of drugs and its distribution across the country. The program offers indepth knowledge in various facets including physiology and pharmacology, pharmaceutical chemistry and drug design, drug delivery, formulation development, natural products, herbal medicines, quality control, regulatory affairs to drug marketing, microbiology as well as biochemistry.

The course is focused to develop professionals ready for various employment sectors like production, quality control, research and drug discovery, quality assurance, marketing including government jobs like Pharmacist, Drug Inspector, Drug Counsellor, etc.

The pharmaceutical industry is an ever-growing industry, in which there is always scope of growth and development. Hence, there is an assurance that no matter what the economic situation is, this field that will always boom and update to meet current healthcare needs. Adverse situations like pandemic and epidemic conditions have strengthened the role Pharmacy professionals in healthcare sector and is expected to attract renewed interest both from government and private sectors. The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) is the regulatory body of this programenvisaged with its development at par with global standards.

Eligibility:

Minimum 60% aggregate in 10+2 or equivalent from any recognized board conducted by the respective state/central government authorities recognized as equivalent to 10+2 examination by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology as optional subjects individually. Students have to secure a minimum of 60% marks in the qualifying examination. “However, the students possessing 10+2 qualification from non-formal and non-class rooms based schooling such as National Institute of Open Schooling, open school systems of States etc. shall not be eligible for admission to B. Pharm Course.”

  1. Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examinations.

Program Outcome (PO’s)

PO1: Graduates will demonstrate knowledge of pharmaceutical science & basic science

PO2: Graduates will demonstrate an ability to identify, formulate and solve the problems associated with Pharmaceutical Industry, Community & Hospital Pharmacy

PO3: Graduate will demonstrate an ability to conduct, analyze and interpret data arising out of research experience into production, Quality control & Quality assurance

PO4: Graduates will demonstrate an ability to design formulation & Synthetic process as per needs and specifications in Pharmaceutical Industries & Marketing

PO5: Graduates will demonstrate an ability to understand mechanism of drug action, its dynamics and kinetics, visualize and work on laboratory techniques and improvements

PO6: Graduate will demonstrate skills to use modern Pharmaceutical tools, software and equipment to analyze& solve problems

PO7: Graduates will demonstrate knowledge of professional and ethical responsibilities as per Pharmaceutical jurisprudence and global regulations.

PO8: Graduate will be able to communicate effectively, both verbal and written form, to present a technical report

PO9: Graduate will show the understanding of impact of Pharmaceutical sciences on the society and also will be aware of modern issues related to healthcare

PO10: An ability to function effectively as a leader and member of multidisciplinary teams

PO11: Graduate will develop confidence for self education and ability for life-long learning

PO12: Graduate can participate and succeed in competitive examinations

Program Educational Objectives (PEO’s)

PEO1: To build a strong theoretical knowledge base along with necessary practical skill and able to use these experiences in pharmaceutical industry, research & development, hospitals and in academia.

PEO2: To provide students with a strong foundation in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy fundamentals as per the present requirement of pharmaceutical Industries, Community and Hospital Pharmacy

PEO3: To train students with good knowledge along with practical efficiency in Pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, Drug properties, synthesis, molecular modelling, formulation & development, analytical aspects in research and design. Extend this knowledge to create novel Herbal & Synthetic Pharmaceutical products for the benefit of life.
