Program educational objectives (PEOs) of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture
- To provide the appropriate knowledge in the subjects of Agriculture and allied sciences which are required to solve problems faced by the agrarian communities in the management of agronomic practices, crop improvement, animal husbandry and their marketing.
- To develop an effective teaching-learning environment appropriate for r higher studies and help in selection of professional careers in both public and private sectors, agro-based industries, educational/ research/extension organisations etc.
- To develop the appropriate skills associated with leadership, ethical integrity, and professional engagement in agriculture and allied science.
- To provide adequate information associated with optimal utilization of natural and other resources through an updated course curriculum for the benefit of society.
- To produce highly skilled professionals in field of various branches of agricultural sciences to meet the needs and aspirations of various agricultural industries and scientific agriculture institutions as required by the stakeholders.
- To develop competencies as regards to use of precision agriculture, artificial intelligence/machine learning, big data analytics as associated with agriculture and allied sciences.
Program Outcome (PO)
- Understand the basic and advanced knowledge associated with agriculture and allied sciences in the local, regional and global prospective.
- Develop an understanding of appropriate communication methods, optimize resources utilization, cultivation of agronomic and horticultural crops their management and value addition of different agricultural, horticultural and livestock producers.
- Develop the appropriate skills to manage both small and large agricultural farms, enhance quality of farm produces and their commercial utilization.
- Demonstrate the methods used in collection, designing of experiments, presentation of data and their appropriate analysis of results of both field and laboratory-based experiments and their validation.
- Understand all pertinent methods related to agriculture and allied sciences to enhance the profitability’s from agronomic, horticultural crops and livestock.
- To access and learn to make relevant decisions at various stages that enhances the success of an agricultural enterprise.
- To understand the different extension activities in agriculture and allied sectors around the local villages through Rural Agricultural Work Experience and Agro-industrial Attachment (RAWE & AIA).
- Harmonize the relation with different ICAR and allied Agriculture Research Institutions, State Agriculture Universities, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and also private farms etc.
- Motivate the students for entrepreneurship, start-up through project planning and execution, research and training during field visits etc.
- To understand the importance of sensors, agriculture drones, robotics associated with climate resilient agriculture.
Career avenues
- Career prospects in the agribusiness and agriculture technology industries, including roles like business development managers, supply chain coordinators, technical service representatives, and sales executives, depending on skills and experience.
- Research opportunities in both private and public sectors in fields such as crop science, plant breeding, soil health, agricultural engineering, and sustainable farming practices, where students can work as research assistants, lab technicians, or field researchers in India and abroad.
- Specialized programs will also empower students to pursue entrepreneurial ventures in areas like agribusiness, organic farming, agri-tech solutions, and food processing.
- The core curriculum prepares students to appear for entrance exams for higher studies, such as M.Sc. in Agriculture and related disciplines.
- Courses on career development, foundational knowledge, and specialized agricultural topics will enable students to compete in national-level exams like ICAR, GATE, and NET, pursuing careers in research, teaching, and academia. Additionally, students will be well-equipped to participate in UPSC and similar competitive exams, opening up careers in administrative services and rural development.
