B.Sc. Economics
About the Program
The B.Sc. (H) Economics program at AU offers a stimulating and flexible arrangement of study invigorated by research and innovative learning pedagogies, which advances a student’s ability to develop academic and practical insights into the domain of Economics. Within the program students are encouraged to develop a broad range of transferable and technical expertise via developing a thorough grounding in analytical methods and apply them to a diverse range of problems, addressing important corporate concerns, social issues and policy questions. The graduates from AU will be able to construct complex arguments and communicate these effectively, developing wider employability skills within diverse sectors of economy, intuitions and private organizations.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
PEO 01: To prepare graduates for a career in the field of Economics focusing on need of the industry domestically and globally
PEO 02: To equip them with knowledge and skills through interdisciplinary, innovative and flexible learning pedagogy
PEO 03: To inculcate values and ethics and prepare socially responsible graduates
PEO 04: To embed lifelong learning skills and professional traits among the graduates
Program Outcomes (POs)
At the end of the Program the students will be able to:
PO 01: Domain specific knowledge and skills/ Acquire knowledge of core economic theories and adequately identify the issues related to economy, public policy and society
PO 02: Problem Analysis and Critical thinking / Develop skills necessary to analyze economic data, think critically on alternatives and propose viable solutions
PO 03: Modern IT Tools / Become proficient in using economic data analysis software (s) and conduct meaningful analysis of data
PO 04: Business and Society / Appreciate the importance of responsibilities of businesses and government towards the society
PO 05: Environment and sustainability / Contemplate on societal and global issues resulting from environmental concerns
PO 06: Ethics / Appreciate individual ethical behavior and be able to discharge community responsibilities to the society

Eligibility Criteria
Minimum 50 % aggregate in 10 + 2 or equivalent and mathematics as one of the subjects from any recognised board
Duration (in Year): 4 (with exit option after 3 years as per NEP guidelines).

Consulting, teaching, investment banking, retail banking, marketing analytics, trade houses, and firms engaged in International business with job titles as Assistant / Associate Economists, Assistant Professor, Business Analyst, Associate Consultant, Financial Analyst, Corporate Finance Associate, Financial Services Managers, Investment Analyst, and Market Research Specialist / analyst.
Internship and Placements
The Department of Economics and School of Business and Economics is supported by a Career Development Centre (CDC) of ADAMAS University and a dedicated committee of faculty members within the department for placement and internship related activities. The two jointly not only provides support in placements and internships for the students but also orient the students to get industry ready. The department also organize boot camps focusing on these activities time to time. Some of our prominent recruiters in recent past have been Jio, Kokat, Bajaj Finance, Acxiom, empaxis, Thyrocare and many more.
