B.Sc. Mathematics
Introduction to the Program:
The program is open to students with 10+2 passed in Science with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory papers. There is a variety of Core-courses that emphasize the fundamentals while keeping in mind the evolving nature of the subject. The ultimate goal of this programme is that our students should apply their knowledge to demonstrate mathematics clearly and precisely, making vague ideas precise by formulating them in the language of mathematics. The other goal includes students may work in teams on multi-disciplinary projects in research organizations and other industries. We also try to enhance their employability for jobs in public and private sectors.
Program Educational Objective:
PEO 01: Graduates will pursue higher education/research in recognized national/international institutes.
PEO 02: To prepare students with knowledge, abilities and insight in mathematics and related fields.
PEO 03: Graduates will work effectively as individuals and as team members in multidisciplinary projects.
PEO 04: Be able to formulate, investigate and analyze scientifically real life problems along with ethical attitude.
PEO 05: To facilitate students to recognize the need for and the ability to engage in life-long learning.
Program Outcome:
PO 01: Academic Excellence: Apply theoretical knowledge of Mathematics for the solution of different problems related to science and technology.
PO 02: Contextualized Understanding: Develop mathematical concepts in all the fields of learning and recognize the need in science and technology.
PO 03: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills: Investigate various problems with effective solutions or techniques to crack competitive examinations and higher studies.
PO 04: Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate and analyze complex problems using mathematical principles.
PO 05: Modernization and Tools Usage: Design and solve critical problems using sophisticated mathematical modelling with modern tools and programming skills.
PO 06: Societal Implication: Analyze complex social elements, their interrelation and its impact on geographically different society.
PO 07: Environment and Sustainability: Design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as environmental, health, safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.
PO 08: Ethics: Understand ethical principle and commit to professional ethics, responsibly and norms in the society.
PO 09: Individual and Team Work: Work as an individual or in teams on multi-disciplinary projects in research organizations, industries and participate in academic discussion.
PO 10: Communication: Build up effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to specialized and non-specialized audiences.
PO 11: Leadership Skills: Undertake a major, individual, mathematics-related project and discuss the results in a full scientific report with a presentation.
PO12: Life Long Learning: Develop the ability to reasoning, abstract thinking, critically evaluate theories, methods, principles, and applications of pure and applied science.
Programme Specific Outcome:
PSO 01: Understand basic concepts of mathematics to develop problem solving skills which are required for higher education and get placed in gov./ private organizations
PSO 02: Develop deeper understanding and expanded knowledge in pure mathematics
PSO 03: Apply mathematical methods to other disciplines such as physics, engineering, computer science
Programme Eligibility:
Minimum 50% aggregate in 10 +2 or equivalent from any recognized board with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subject.
Duration (in Year): 4 (with exit option after 3 years as per NEP guidelines).
Career Avenues:
