From River Profiles to Urban Surveys: Department of Geography’s Field Excursion to Ranchi

The Department of Geography celebrated GIS Day 2025 with an innovative and engaging event titled “Field Frames: Stories Beyond the Map”, a digital storytelling competition designed to bring field experiences to life through geospatial narratives.
Through this initiative, students demonstrated how geography is not just mapped, it is felt, observed, and told through powerful stories from the field. Their presentations beautifully captured landscapes, people, processes, and research insights, reflecting the true spirit of GIS and field-based learning.
As a department committed to fostering geospatial excellence, we are delighted to see our students embrace GIS not only as a tool but as a lens to understand the world.
