History lives not only in dates and events, but in the human stories, memories and experiences that continue to shape generations. Adamas University came together to honour these stories through “In Remembrance of the Partition of Bengal and Its Tragic Consequences,” organised by the Office of Student Affairs.

The insightful session was graced by Hon’ble Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Samit Ray; Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Professor Suranjan Das; Ms. Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury, MLA, West Bengal Legislative Assembly (2021 to 2026), Distinguished Visiting Fellow, IIT Kharagpur, National Advisor and Chairperson of the Sustainability, Leadership and Public Policy Cell, and Distinguished Visiting Faculty, School of Law and Justice, Adamas University; and Prof. Smritikumar Sarkar, Member, Indian Council of Historical Research and Former Vice Chancellor, University of Burdwan, along with distinguished dignitaries.

Through a thought provoking exchange, the session invited us to look beyond historical narratives and engage with the human dimensions of Partition, including stories of displacement, loss, resilience and hope. The accompanying exhibition at the International Lounge, AU1, further brought these memories and narratives closer to the university community.

The event served as a meaningful reminder that remembering history is not merely about looking back, but about understanding its lessons and carrying them forward with empathy, awareness and a commitment to peace and shared humanity.
